The days fly by

I can’t believe that summer is already over. I had a great time with the Schielke and Schrader/Rose crew at a cabin near Kalalock. Kids and dogs loved the beach!

Finnegan had the best time at the ocean:

I ended up deciding not to take my big road trip to Minnesota. Just driving the 4 hours by myself to Kalaloch was exhausting, and I don’t sleep as well in strange beds, and then it was even more tiring to drive back. I realized that days and days on the road and staying in hotels by myself wasn’t going to work– and really wouldn’t have been much fun.

So instead I came up to Whidbey Island for Labor Day and have been here for a week so far. The dogs love it and I’ve finished a lot of little projects that have been on my “to-do” list, including finally washing the shower curtain. Yup, the shower curtain. Exciting times! But other than spurts of doing chores, I spend most of my time reading books. I had a goal to read 50 books in 2011 and I’ve already passed that. Think I can make it to 75? We’ll see!

Tara is coming up tomorrow for the weekend, then I’ll head home on Sunday. I think Griffin has been missing me. And I’m sure that Ella is waiting for her Finnegan! The dogs are getting groomed tomorrow, so I’ll get a picture of them up while they are clean and fluffy.
